SQKY 12-Month Coating Guarantee

Every ceramic coating installed by SQKY includes our 12-Month Performance Guarantee – a straightforward commitment that your coating will perform as promised, backed by our personal service and expertise.

What's Covered

Your ceramic coating is guaranteed to deliver:

Hydrophobic Performance – water beads and sheets off the surface.

Enhanced Gloss & Depth – That signature wet-look finish.

Contaminant Resistance – Environmental fallout, bird droppings, and tree sap won’t bond to the surface.

UV Protection – prevents oxidation and paint fading.

If your coating fails to perform within 12 months of application and has been maintained correctly, we’ll make it right.

How the Guarantee Works

Installation Day – Your coating is applied following manufacturer specifications. We document the vehicle’s condition with photos and provide you with a detailed care guide.

12 Month Performance Inspection – Between months 11-12, we’ll visit your location for a complimentary visual inspection of the coatings performance. This inspection does not include a wash or detailing work – it’s purely to assess the coating’s condition and hydrophobic properties.

If There’s an Issue – If we determined the coating has failed due to a product defect of installation error, we’ll re-apply the affected panels at no cost to you.

Guarantee Conditions

To maintain warranty coverage, your vehicle must be:

Hand Washed Every 2-4 Weeks

Regular washing prevents bonded contaminants from degrading the coating. Use pH-neutral shampoo and microfibre wash mitts only.

No Automated Car Washes

Automated car washes use harsh chemicals (acidic wheel cleaners, alkaline pre-soaks) and abrasive brushes that break down ceramic coatings. Even “touchless” washes use chemistry strong enough to strip protection. Hand washing is the only safe method to protect the longevity of your ceramic coating.

Decontamination Wash Every 6 Months

Iron fallout, tar and industrial deposits bond to the coating over time. A professional decontamination service (iron remover + clay treatment) keeps the coating functioning properly. We offer this service for starting at $249.

Bird droppings, tree sap and bug splatter contain acids that etch through coatings if left on the surface. Rinse or wipe these off as soon as you notice them.

Contaminants Removed within 48 Hours

Annual Inspection Completed

Schedule your complimentary 12-month inspection within the designated window. We’ll confirm the appointment 2-3 weeks in advance.

What's Not Covered

This guarantee does not cover:

Physical Damage

Scratches, rock chips, key marks or impact damage.

Improper Maintenance

Use of automated car washes, harsh chemicals or abrasive tools.

Neglect

Failure to wash regularly, skipping decontamination washes, or leaving contaminants on the surface for extended periods.

Making a Claim

If you believe your coating has failed:

Step 1 – Contact Us

Email operations@sqky.com.au or call us – Provide photos of the affected area and a brief description of the issue.

Step 2 – Inspection & Decontamination Wash

We’ll schedule an inspection at your location. Before assessing the coating, we’ll perform a decontamination clean to remove bonded contaminants (iron, tar, fallout). This ensures we’re able to evaluate the coating itself, not surface contamination that may be affecting its performance.

Step 3 – Claim Decision

If we determine the coating has failed due to product or installation defect, we’ll re-apply the coating at no cost to you and refund your decontamination fee.

Why We Do It This Way

Most ceramic coating warranties are designed to avoid payouts – They’re backed by manufacturers located overseas who require you to:

  • Ship samples of the failed ceramic coating to a lab

  • Navigate complex claim forms

  • Wait weeks or months for a decision

  • Accept denial in 80-90% of cases based on “improper maintenance”

Our Goal

SQKY’s guarantee is simple: If your coating fails and you’ve maintained it properly, we come to you, inspect it ourselves, and re-apply if needed. No headaches, just honest, good old fashioned customer service.

Your Care Guide

When your coating is installed, you’ll receive a detailed care guide covering:

FAQ's

Warranty Questions

What if I miss the 12-month inspection window?

You can still schedule an inspection, but it may not be complimentary. Contact us and we'll work out a time that suits.

Can I extend the warranty beyond 12 months?

Not currently, but regular maintenance (hand washing + 6-month decontamination) will keep your coating performing well for 2–4+ years depending on the product.

What if I sell the vehicle?

The warranty does not transfer to new owners. It's specific to the original client and vehicle combination.

What if I move interstate?

The warranty is valid within our service area (Melbourne metro). If you relocate, contact us — we may be able to recommend a trusted detailer in your new location for inspection purposes, though re-application would need to occur in Melbourne.

Why do I need to hand-wash every 2–4 weeks?

Regular washing prevents bonded contaminants (iron fallout, tar, industrial deposits) from degrading the coating. These contaminants break down ceramic coatings over time if left on the surface.

Why can't I use automated car washes?

Automated car washes use harsh chemicals (acidic wheel cleaners, alkaline pre-soaks) and abrasive brushes that break down ceramic coatings. Even "touchless" washes use chemistry strong enough to strip protection. Hand washing is the only safe method.

What happens if I use an automated car wash?

Your warranty will be void. Automated washes chemically strip ceramic coatings and create physical marring that cannot be repaired without full paint correction and re-application.

What is decontamination and why do I need it every 6 months?

Decontamination involves using iron remover and clay treatment to remove bonded contaminants that regular washing can't remove. This keeps the coating functioning properly and prevents long-term degradation. We offer this service for $250.

What if I don't do the 6-month decontamination?

Skipping decontamination will likely result in warranty claim denial, as bonded contaminants will degrade the coating's performance over time. We require evidence of regular maintenance for any warranty claim.

Why is there a $250 fee for warranty claims?

Before assessing the coating, we need to decontaminate the surface to ensure we're evaluating the coating itself, not surface contamination. This ensures a fair assessment. The fee is refunded if your claim is approved.

What happens during the 12-month inspection?

We visit your location and perform a visual inspection of the coating's hydrophobic properties and overall condition. This does not include washing or detailing work — it's purely to assess coating performance.

What if the coating fails the inspection?

If we determine the coating has failed due to product defect or installation error and you've maintained it properly, we'll re-apply the affected panels at no cost to you.

What pH-neutral shampoos do you recommend?

We provide a detailed care guide with your coating that includes recommended pH-neutral shampoo brands. These are specifically formulated not to strip ceramic coatings.

Can I wax or seal my coating?

No. Ceramic coatings are the top layer of protection. Adding wax or sealant on top can interfere with the coating's performance and may void your warranty. Use only approved maintenance products from your care guide.

What about bird droppings and tree sap?

These must be removed within 48 hours. Bird droppings and tree sap contain acids that etch through ceramic coatings if left on the surface. Rinse or wipe them off as soon as you notice them.

Does the warranty cover scratches or rock chips?

No. The warranty covers coating performance (hydrophobic properties, gloss, contaminant resistance), not physical damage. For impact protection, consider Paint Protection Film (PPF).

How is this different from manufacturer warranties?

Most manufacturer warranties require you to ship samples to overseas labs, navigate complex claim forms, and wait weeks for decisions that are denied 80–90% of the time. SQKY's guarantee means we come to you, inspect it ourselves, and re-apply it if needed. No overseas runaround — just local accountability.

Can I make a claim if I move to another city?

The warranty is valid within Melbourne metro only. If you relocate interstate, we may be able to recommend a trusted detailer for inspection purposes, but any re-application would need to occur in Melbourne where we're based.
